Hub welcomes first multi-disciplinary student team

A special group of students have started placements at the Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub based at Clingoe House on the Knowledge Gateway research and technology park.

They are the first multi-disciplinary student team to complete placements at the Hub as part of their studies in Occupational therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy.

The students help deliver clinical services which range from face to face one-to-one and group sessions through to online services with the Hub’s qualified clinician team providing support at all times.

Services they support range from upper limb rehabilitation and online neuro rehab sessions to supporting charity Headway with group sessions. The Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub opened earlier this year in the new landmark Clingoe House at Parkside on the Knowledge Gateway.

Emma Blowers, the Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub manager said, “We are so excited to be able to offer integrated clinical placement opportunities to our first multidisciplinary group of students. It is so important for students to understand and experience the importance of working together to provide a holistic offer. The services being offered in the Hub really enable our students to achieve this and the responses shared by our service users reflect what a difference we are making to their health and wellbeing needs. We can’t wait to welcome more students into the Hub later this term.”

The Hub was established with the support of NHS England and in collaboration with regional NHS Integrated Care Boards as a centre of excellence in health and care-related research and workforce development. A range of community-facing services are now being delivered by the Hub, both on the Colchester Campus, in the community and online.
